Junior Warehouse Manager (JHB)

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
  • Documenting and managing all client system reporting.
  • Overseeing receiving, warehousing, distribution and limited maintenance operations
  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to achieve monthly results, highlight problem areas and take appropriate action to rectify poor performance
  • Ensure that a copy of the SLA and SOP`s and requirements are available and refer to the same to ensure compliance with the service provisions and scope of work, regarding material handling, and shipping requirements legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising site management on needed actions.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing safe working conditions.
  • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Orientating shift workers, and training employees by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
  • Liaise with clients, senior management, suppliers and transport companies, if need be.
  • Plan work rotas, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results.
  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

Profile

  • Grade 12 and applicable warehouse management Certification/ Diploma
  •  Proven three (3) years’ experience in Warehouse industry.
  • Proven work experience in warehousing and warehouse labour
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
  • Good knowledge of QHSE, implementation, monitoring and training
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage staff
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in the administration of inventories
  • Experience in generating reports or data capturing
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be able to work shifts where and when required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, ability to work under pressure
  • Good knowledge of standard software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

3 x Coal and Oil Fired Boiler Operations (KZN Verulam)

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Operates automatically fired boilers to generate steam that supplies steam for manufacturing purposes. Corrected equipment malfunctions when indicated by direct observation and notified for major repairs, assistance or services needed.
  • Perform pressure vessel firing operation and other incidental duties. Regulate size of flame and operate boiler controls adjusting for various loads. Fire coal furnaces by hand or with stokers or oil-fed boilers, using automatic gas feeds or oil pumps. Ignite fuel to activate heating equipment.
  • Ensure that all boiler components are cleaned and lubricated as scheduled.
  • Observes pressure, temperature, and draft meters on panel to verify specified operation of automatic combustion control systems, feed water regulators, stoker, pulveriser, and burners.
  • Turns valves and adjusts controls to set specified fuel feed, draft openings, water level, and steam pressure of boiler. Performed a thorough inspection of boiler equipment everyday
  • Observes boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and make minor repairs, such as pipes and fittings if need be. Completed numerous preventive maintenance tasks on daily basis to ensure smooth operation of Boilers at all time.
  • Check the air quality of ventilation systems and make adjustments to ensure compliance with mandated safety codes. Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Monitor Coal & Oil feed at all times, checking feeds and Boiler ash produced.
  • Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of boiler operation to ensure that boilers are operating properly especially on high demand periods.
  • Able to use manual, or electrical tools to repair boiler subsidiary equipment. Maintained boilers via cleaning, painting, and various testing methods as-well.
  • Formed reports of all boiler activity with a focus on suggested improvements.
  • Monitored, drum levels, DA tank levels, stability of pumps, and other processes related to Coal and Oil boilers.
  • Ability to effectively & safely start-up and shutdown boilers within the given period of time.
  • May maintain log of meter and gauge readings and record data, such as water test results and quantity of fuel consumed. Keeping safety at the forefront, boiler operators will watch the system during operation and attend to any additional problems.
  • Performs the chemical testing of boiler feed water.
  • Designated according to fuel burned, type of boilers, or class of license required.
  • Makes regular checks of plant equipment and makes adjustments, minor repairs as required from time to time. Clean and lubricate boilers and auxiliary equipment and make minor adjustments as needed, using hand tools. Clean production equipment. Lubricate production equipment
  • Weigh, measure, and record fuel used.Operate mechanical hoppers and provide assistance in their adjustment and repair if need be.

Profile

  • Grade 12 or similar
  • Certified Boiler Operator – Coal/ Oil
  • Minimum five (3) years’ experience in Coal fired Boiler operations
  • Advance training at John Thompson academy – supplementary advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, written orders, control gauges,
  • manufacturer's operating instructions books, and to record boiler plant information.
  • Ability to operate and regulate boiler plant equipment and to make adjustments as required for plant output.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral or written instructions on proper plant
  • operation.
  • Skill in repairing and maintaining various types of steam plant equipment
  • Experience in the administration of inventories

  • Must be presentable, must be able to communicate;

  • Must have a good financial acumen, must have fairly good knowledge of Food Service operations, including various diets in a hospital environment. Must have good IT Knowledge

  • Good leadership and motivational skills and ability to train are advantageous. Must have experience in HACCP.

Profile

  • B-Tech Food Service Management or similar; Intermediate to Advanced chef qualification.

  • N. Diploma: Foodservice Management or similar; Matric or Senior Certificate at NQF4. Formal qualifications endorsed by City & Guilds, SA Chefs Association will also be evaluated if available.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in hotels or restaurants as Restaurant Manager or 3 years in industrial catering companies. Must have an ability to manage a site of >250 pax. Should have good communication and leadership skills. Good knowledge and flair for food services a must. Ability to train staff will be a plus. Must be presentable and have good communication skills. Experience in a multi-disciplined operational environment (blue collar & white collar) advantageous. HACCP Experience will be advantageous.
