Bringing joy to the village of Embo - KwaZulu Natal

June 09, 2014

Thursday 5 June 2014 was a very special day for the elderly in the rural village of Embo, situated just outside Durban in KwaZulu Natal. There were selected to be the beneficiaries of Sodexo South Africa's 2014 Stop Hunger Servathon.

Bringing joy to the village of Embo - KwaZulu Natal

The grannies were treated to a most welcome cup of hot tea, since the weather was wet, cold and windy and some of the grannies have been waiting at the hall from early the morning already.  With the tea they were also treated to an assortment of sweets and pasteries; something that they can very rarely afford on their meager pension money.

After the tea-time we had a lucky draw and ten lucky grannies each won a R500.00 shopping voucher from a supermarket chain.  When one considers that their pension money is roughly R1200.00 per month, these vouchers will come in very handy
